The fast starts from Fajr till the time the Maghrib (sun sets). During the fast Muslims abstain from any kind of drinking and eating. The keeping of roza (fast) is mandatory upon each and every Muslim unless one is in journey or ill. Though the order of keeping roza (fast) coming from directly ALLAH Almighty, so, it is very important that a Muslim try to understand the motive behind fasting. ALLAH Almighty says in Holy Quran, verse 2:183:
“O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil).”
This ayah of Holy Quran gives the most significant single motive behind fasting. The guarding of one’s self from evil and it is the major objective of fasting. The lines under discuss the different purpose that fasting in the month of Holy Ramadan is aimed at achieving.
* Going Away With Bad Habits:
In the times of present people have developed lots of bad and wrong habits that are bad for both the health of a person as well as the character. Bad habits such as unhealthy diet, smoking, indulging in too much eating, drinking all are the habits which people give way to all through the year. With the arrival of Holy Ramadan, for Muslims these things get prohibited for the entire month during the fast. Therefore, it is when Muslims keep away from all such things and to make things ideal this practice goes on for an entire month.

* Empathizing With Less lucky Ones:
During fast a Muslim neither drinks nor eats during the entire day for the whole month. This being disadvantaged from water and food is perhaps the tale of every other day of the people who are unlucky and unfortunate and don’t have access to even the essential necessities of life such as food for eating and hygienic water for drinking. Therefore, when a Muslim bears such type of condition, he or she really empathizes with what the less unlucky go through each and every day and they then get to think that how do such people are living their life. This empathizing then leads a person to softening of their hearts and makes them more sane as well as charitable too when it comes to the less lucky ones and their sufferings.
* Be thankful for The Blessings:
During any day all through the year a person does not perhaps understand in the right way the type of blessings that ALLAH Almighty has bestowed upon us. We hardly ever realize for how long the daylight stays, how long or little is night, what type of satisfaction water brings, how a single morsel of food feels does when a person is truly hungry. All these are the blessings of ALLAH Almighty that are obtainable to us during the year, but in Holy Ramadan when we abstain from them, we really learn their worth of all these blessings. Therefore, anyone who has forgotten the blessings of ALLAH Almighty, during the roza he or she realizes that there are innumerable of them, which we usually tend to ignore in our daily life.

[65

post-2147","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-islam

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR OBJECTIVE OF FASTING?
