Why UK pilgrims perform Umrah in October?

October is a practical month for many UK pilgrims, though it is worth being clear about what it does and does not promise.

  • October Umrah weather: October is milder than the peak of summer, though it is not a cool month. Early October in Makkah still averages highs of approx. 38°C, easing to roughly 34–36°C by the end of the month, with overnight lows near 24–25°C. Madinah runs slightly cooler, easing from approx. 37°C to about 34°C, with nights around 21–22°C. Most pilgrims find early mornings and after Maghrib the most comfortable times to walk.
  • Outside Ramadan and school holidays: October 2026 falls outside Ramadan and the school summer holidays, the two busiest travel periods of the year, so crowd levels are usually lower than at those peaks. If your dates are flexible, you can also compare our Ramadan Umrah packages. The Haramain remain busy all year and demand still moves with the calendar, so October is generally quieter rather than guaranteed quiet.
  • Lower prices in October: Because demand is softer than during Ramadan and the summer holidays, flights and hotel rooms often cost less. A 5-star room that is hard to secure in Ramadan is frequently available in October at a more reasonable rate. Prices still move with demand and how early you book, so October offers better value rather than guaranteed low prices.

What Is Included in an October Umrah Package?

Your written quotation is the final record of what you have bought. That said, our October packages normally bring the main travel arrangements together as follows.

Included/arranged

What to check

Return UK flights

Airline, routing and baggage allowance confirmed in your quote

Makkah accommodation

Exact property, room type and meal basis

Madinah accommodation

Exact property, room type and meal basis

Ground transfers

Whether your package uses shared or private transport

Entry and Nusuk support

Guidance based on your passport and Saudi entry route

Umrah permit guidance

Current Nusuk permit requirements explained before travel

UK support

Pre-travel support, plus a ground-support contact for the journey

What is not included in your Package?

Do not assume any of the following are covered unless your written quotation lists them:

● breakfast, lunch or dinner

● private transfers, where the package specifies shared transport

● guided Ziyarat

● extra baggage or airline seat selection

● hotel room upgrades

● travel insurance

● extra nights or itinerary changes

Some hotels and packages do include individual extras. Check the quotation before payment rather than relying on a general description.

Optional Ziyarat Tours

Guided Ziyarat is not automatically part of every October package, but it can usually be added where availability allows. A Madinah itinerary may include sites such as Masjid Quba, Mount Uhud and Masjid al-Qiblatain, alongside other historic locations. Makkah Ziyarat options depend on access and the programme running on your travel dates, so ask for the exact itinerary in writing.

Room Sharing and Occupancy

The headline prices on this page assume four people sharing a room. If you would prefer double, triple, family or single occupancy, ask for that specific rate — prices rise as fewer people share the room cost. This matters most for couples, families with young children, and elderly pilgrims who need a particular bed or room arrangement, so raise it at the enquiry stage.

How Much Does October Umrah Cost in 2026?

October Umrah packages from the UK generally run from around £865 to £1,150 per person with Makkah Tour, based on four people sharing. Where your quote lands inside that range depends on four things:

Hotel category — 3-star, 4-star or 5-star, and how close the property sits to the mosque

Length of stay — 7, 10 or 14 nights

Room occupancy — quad, triple, double or single

Travel date — half-term and late-October departures carry higher flight and room demand

Cheaper October Umrah deals usually come from a combination of an earlier booking, a flexible date and a higher room occupancy. A quad-share room in mid-October will almost always price better than a double room during half-term week.

Which October Umrah Package Suits You?

A higher star rating does not automatically make a package right for you. Before you decide, compare the actual hotel, the walking route to the mosque, your room arrangement, the transfer type and the length of stay. Those four things shape your day far more than the star count does.

3-Star October Umrah Packages

Our 3-star options start from £865 per person and suit pilgrims who want to keep the cost down while still covering the main parts of the journey — see the 3-star 7-night, 10-night and 14-night packages. They suit students, anyone making their first pilgrimage, and travellers keeping a close watch on cost. Some 3-star hotels sit further out and involve a longer walk or a shuttle, so check the named hotel and the transport arrangement before you pay.

4-Star October Umrah Packages

Our 4-star packages start from £895 per person — compare the 4-star 7-night, 10-night and 14-night options. For many families and couples, this tier lands in a sensible middle ground between price, hotel location and comfort. Ask which property your quote is based on and what the walking route actually looks like, rather than judging the tier alone.

5-Star October Umrah Packages

Our 5-star October packages start from £995 per person and open up the higher hotel categories — see the 5-star 7-night, 10-night and 14-night packages. Room size, meal arrangements, mosque views and hotel facilities vary a lot between properties, so treat these as things to confirm in writing rather than assume from the rating.

7, 10 or 14 Nights: How Long Should You Go?

Duration

Typical split

May suit

7 nights

4 Makkah / 3 Madinah

Shorter leave from work, or a more compact trip

10 nights

5 Makkah / 5 Madinah

Pilgrims who want a balanced stay in both cities

14 nights

7 Makkah / 7 Madinah

Travellers who want more time for prayer, rest and both cities

The split between the two cities can usually be adjusted where flight and hotel availability allows. If you want extra nights in Madinah, say so early — it is easier to build in at quote stage than to change later.

When Should You Book Your October Umrah?

For a standard mid-October trip, two to three months ahead usually gives you a fair choice of hotels and flight times. October half-term sells first, so allow three to five months — family rooms, quad rooms and convenient flights go early. Last-minute deals appear when suppliers release unsold seats, but you take whatever hotel and routing is left, so book early if you have fixed requirements.

Why Book Your October Umrah with Makkah Tour?

Makkah Tour is a trading name of 7 Continents Travel Ltd, a UK company that has arranged Hajj and Umrah travel since 2006 — close to 21 years — from 262A Upper Tooting Road, London SW17 0DN. Our Companies House number is 05224578.

ATOL protection: If your package includes flights, ATOL 10416 protects the money you have paid should the company fail. You will receive an ATOL Certificate listing exactly what is covered. Remember that ATOL is not travel insurance — it does not cover cancellation, illness or lost baggage.

IATA accredited: Makkah Tour holds IATA accreditation 91280442, shown consistently across our website and booking documents.

Saudi Ministry-licensed partners: Your ground arrangements are handled through licensed Saudi Ministry of Hajj & Umrah.

Written quotes you can check: Your quote should state the flights, hotels, room basis, transfers, entry and Nusuk support, optional extras and the total price. A clear itemised list is far more useful to you than a broad promise about everything being covered.

UK support: Call our London office on 020 3195 8700, 10 am to 6 pm, for help before you travel. For anything urgent while you are away, message us 24/7 on WhatsApp at +44 7418378756. Your booking documents also confirm the exact contact to use for your trip.

Saudi Entry, ETA and Nusuk Requirements

Saudi entry requirements vary by passport and can change, so use this section as a guide and confirm your own position before you travel.

British passport holders

Since 1 July 2026, the Saudi Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) has taken over from the old Electronic Visa Waiver. If you hold a British passport, you can normally travel for Umrah on the Saudi ETA outside the Hajj season, as long as you meet the rules in force on your travel date. Other Saudi entry routes, including a dedicated Umrah visa, may apply depending on your itinerary and circumstances.

Other UK residents

Living in the UK does not mean you use the same entry route as a British passport holder. The document you need depends on your nationality, the passport you hold and your immigration status. We will guide you through the Nusuk application, but the Saudi authorities make the final decision and no agency can promise approval.

Your Nusuk Umrah permit

Holding a Saudi entry document does not, on its own, let you perform Umrah — you also need an Umrah permit. Under current Saudi rules, that permit is issued through the Nusuk platform, which you must also use to book your accommodation. Our team talks you through each step before you leave, and our step-by-step guide on how to perform Umrah covers the rest.

Health requirements

The Saudi Ministry of Health currently requires pilgrims travelling for Umrah to hold a MenACWY meningococcal vaccination. It must be given at least 10 days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia and must still be within the accepted validity period for the vaccine used. Health requirements change from time to time, so check the current Saudi Ministry of Health guidance before you travel. For a full pre-departure checklist, see our before you travel guide.

Makkah and Madinah Hotels for October

Hotel location shapes your daily routine more than almost anything else in the package. Walking times depend on the route you take, the mosque gate you use, road access and how busy the area is at that hour. The hotels below are examples from the current October selection and remain subject to availability.

Makkah — Elaf Ajyad Hotel (3-star): In the Ajyad area near Masjid al-Haram. Published location information places the property approx. 0.7 km from the Haram, though the walking route and time depend on which entrance you use.

Madinah — Al Alya Hotel (3-star): Further from Masjid an-Nabawi than many central properties, at approx. 2 km by road. If a shuttle forms part of your package, ask for its timetable in writing.

Makkah — Al Ebaa Hotel (4-star): In the Umm Al Qura and Jarwal area. Published walking figures vary by route and Haram entrance, with many travellers reporting approx. 10 to 15 minutes.

Madinah — Emaar Elite Madinah (4-star): Within walking distance of Masjid an-Nabawi. Depending on the route and gate used, published distances are approx. 0.6 to 0.9 km.

Makkah — Shaza Makkah (5-star): In Jabal Al Kaaba, within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram. The route includes an incline, so if anyone in your group has reduced mobility, ask about the exact walking route before choosing this property.

Madinah — Dar Al Eiman Al Haram Madinah (5-star): Within walking distance of Masjid an-Nabawi, at a practical estimate of approx. 3 to 4 minutes depending on the gate and route.

Always check the named hotel and its distance against the property actually allocated to your booking. If proximity matters because of age, mobility or young children, tell your adviser before the quote is prepared, not after.

October Umrah Flights from the UK

We can arrange return flights from major UK airports, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and other regional airports. The routing depends on your travel date, the airline schedule and your budget.

Two points are worth being straight about:

● Direct flights to Jeddah leave from Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham only. Fly from any other UK airport and your Jeddah route will have a connection.

● Direct flights to Madinah are available from London Gatwick on selected dates. Depart from any other UK airport and your Madinah route will have a connection.

Airlines used across our itineraries can include Saudia, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Turkish Airlines. The airline and full routing are confirmed in your written quote before you pay anything.

If a non-stop service to Jeddah or Madinah matters to you, tell the team at the enquiry stage so they can check what is open for your dates rather than working backwards later.

What about baggage?

Baggage allowance depends on the airline and the fare booked, not on the package tier. Your allowance is confirmed with your flight details, so check it before payment rather than assuming every October package carries the same limit.

Prefer to depart from a specific UK city? See our Umrah packages from London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

October Umrah Packages for Every Kind of Traveller

October half-term family packages

October half-term suits families who would rather not take children out of school in term time. Our family Umrah packages cover the main 2026 half-term, which runs 26 to 30 October for many maintained schools in England — but academies set their own dates, so check your child's calendar. Before paying, confirm your travel dates, room arrangement, hotel walking distance, airline and baggage allowance. Family rooms and good flight times go early, so plan.

Group Umrah packages

Our group Umrah packages let extended families, masjid groups or friends travel on one booking rather than several. We coordinate room allocation, group-sized transfers and shared flight timings where availability allows. Tell us your total numbers, the mix of adults and children, and any mobility needs at the enquiry stage. Group availability moves quickly around half-term, so confirm your dates early.

Women-only Umrah packages

We also offer women-only Umrah packages for group departures. Under the current Saudi rules, women aged 18 and over can travel for Umrah without a mahram. For anyone under 18, the travel-document position is different and should be checked person by person. Scholarly views on women travelling without a mahram vary, so if you want religious rather than administrative guidance, please ask a qualified scholar you trust.

Umrah Plus stopovers

If you want to add another destination before or after Umrah, we can build a wider itinerary around your trip. Stopovers such as Dubai, Istanbul or Cairo are possible, depending on flight routing and the entry requirements for that country. Any extra flights, hotel nights, transfers and sightseeing are priced separately and shown as separate lines in your quote.

How to Book, Pay or Change Your October Package

1. Choose your package: Pick your star category, duration, room basis and preferred October dates.

2. Request a written quote: Tell us who is travelling, which UK airport you prefer, and anything specific you need — a shorter walk to the mosque, private transfers, and so on.

3. Check every inclusion: Before paying, confirm the airline, baggage, hotels, room basis, transfers, meal plan and entry support in writing.

4. Pay your deposit: Our current booking terms let you secure a booking with a £49 deposit. A deposit does not necessarily hold airline or supplier prices, so read the written terms and pay the balance by the deadline your adviser confirms.

5. Read the cancellation and change terms: Cancellation rules depend on whether flights and other travel documents have already been issued. Once tickets, hotels or transfers are issued, supplier rules may make some services non-refundable or subject to change fees.

6. Arrange travel insurance: Check whether insurance appears in your quote. If it does not, arrange suitable travel insurance for your circumstances before you travel.

Speak to the Team

Send us your departure airport, who is travelling, your room plan and the October dates you have in mind. We will prepare a written quote and walk you through the Saudi entry document and Nusuk permit steps that apply to you. There is no obligation to book from a quote — it simply gives you something specific to compare. You can also browse our full range of Umrah packages or plan around another month with our SeptemberNovember, December and Easter Umrah packages.

Before You Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ATOL cover everything in my booking?

No. ATOL 10416 only steps in for packages that include flights, and only in the event that the travel company ceases trading. It is not travel insurance, so it will not help with cancellation, illness or lost baggage. Check your ATOL Certificate to see exactly what is protected.

Can I add a stopover to my Umrah trip?

Yes. Stopovers such as Dubai, Istanbul or Cairo can be added subject to flight routing and that country's entry requirements. Extra flights, nights and transfers are priced separately in your quote.

Can I pay for my October Umrah in instalments?

Yes. Secure your booking with a £49 deposit, then spread the remaining balance across scheduled payments before you travel. How many instalments you can make depends on how early you book — booking further ahead gives you longer to spread the cost. Your written booking terms set out the exact schedule and the date the balance must be paid by.

Is Nusuk required for Umrah?

Yes. You get your Umrah permit and book your accommodation through the Nusuk platform. We help you with the Nusuk process, but the Saudi authorities give the final approval.

Do I need a Saudi ETA for Umrah?

On 1 July 2026, the Saudi ETA took over from the Electronic Visa Waiver. British passport holders can usually use it for Umrah outside the Hajj season. If you hold another passport, or a different route fits your trip, check your own position before you book.

Do I need a meningitis vaccination for Umrah?

Yes. Saudi health rules require Umrah pilgrims to have the MenACWY meningococcal vaccine, given at least 10 days before you arrive and still within its valid period.

Are last-minute October Umrah packages available?

Late availability does come up when suppliers release unsold seats or rooms. It can offer good value, but the hotel and routing are whatever remains rather than your choice. If you have fixed requirements, booking early gives you more control.

Are affordable October Umrah packages available?

Our affordable October packages start from £865 per person based on four people sharing. Lower prices usually come from booking earlier, travelling outside half-term week, and sharing a room between more people. Every quote sets out exactly what is and is not included.

What is the weather like in Makkah and Madinah in October?

October cools through the month but stays hot. Makkah averages highs of approx. 38°C in early October, easing to roughly 34–36°C by month end, with overnight lows near 24–25°C. Madinah is slightly cooler, easing from approx. 37°C to about 34°C. Rainfall is minimal in both cities.

Which UK airports can I fly from?

You fly out of major UK airports, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh, with other regional airports on request. Non-stop flights to Jeddah go from Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham, and Gatwick has a non-stop Madinah service on selected dates. Every other route connects along the way.

What is included in an October Umrah package?

Packages normally include your return flights, hotels in each city, transfers on the ground, and Nusuk help with both your entry document and your Umrah permit. Your written quotation confirms the exact airline, hotels, room basis and transfers.

Is October a good month for Umrah?

October is a practical choice because it falls outside Ramadan and Hajj and is usually less hot than the peak summer months. It can still be warm and busy, particularly around UK school holidays, so it should not be described as guaranteed quiet or cool.

How much are October Umrah packages from the UK?

October Umrah packages 2026 start from £865 per person for a 7-night 3-star option based on four people sharing. Four-star packages start from £895 and five-star packages from £995. Prices depend on your travel dates and availability.

Do you arrange women-only Umrah groups in October?

Yes, we offer a women-only Umrah package and provide a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.
