What Is a Group Umrah Package?

A group Umrah package, sometimes called an Umrah group tour or an organised Umrah group, is a pre-arranged pilgrimage where pilgrims share the same dates, return flights, hotels in Makkah and Madinah and coach transfers. A group leader looks after the practical side, from check-ins to coach timings, so the group can focus on worship.

Travelling as a group helps in practical ways:

• You pay less per person, because rooms, coaches and flight seats are shared.
• First-timers aren't working everything out alone; the group leader knows the routes, meeting points and timings.
• If you get separated in the crowds around the Kaaba, there is a set meeting point and a group leader to call.

There are two ways to travel for Umrah as a group from the UK, plus the option of booking independently. The right one depends mostly on who you're travelling with.

Joining a Scheduled Group Departure

Our scheduled group departures for 2026/27 come with set hotels and flights, and you travel with other pilgrims from across the UK. If you want to join an organised group Umrah from the UK as a solo pilgrim, a couple or a small family, this is the simplest route. Ask for the remaining departure dates in your month, and we'll send them with hotel names and prices.

Booking a Private Group for Your Family, Friends or Masjid

Private family group Umrah and mosque group Umrah packages are built around your dates and hotels. They suit extended families, mosque and community groups, workplace teams and university Islamic societies (ISOCs), from 4 to 50 pilgrims, with group rates from 10. If you're organising for a mosque, we'll put the hotel names, flight details and rooming list in writing for your committee, and every pilgrim is named on the ATOL certificate. Tell us numbers early: it gives you a better chance of rooms on one floor.

Scheduled, Private or Independent: Side by Side

If your leave is fixed to dates when no group runs, or you want one particular hotel, a private or independent booking may suit you better, and we'll tell you so.

Hotel category affects facilities, comfort and usually the price, while the prayer walk depends on each hotel, not its stars. We show both separately so you can choose what matters most to your group. Our 2026/27 group Umrah packages name the proposed hotels, their approximate distance from Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi, and the starting price per person, so you can compare each option like for like. Prices are starting prices per person, based on four sharing. Each package is priced on its own departure date, and hotel contracts and flight fares change from date to date, which is why a 5-star package can start below a 4-star one. Room type and availability also change the final cost, and your written quote confirms it.

Budget-Minded Groups: 3-Star Hotels

3-star is the place to start for more affordable group Umrah packages from the UK, and suits students and younger pilgrims. Makkah is hilly and the walk back after Isha can be uphill, so if you're bringing parents, look at 5-star.

Comfort at a Middle Price: 4-Star Hotels

4-star is where many families settle, mainly for larger rooms. In Makkah, the walk is similar to 3-star, though several hotels run a 24/7 shuttle; in Madinah, you're closer to the mosque. Grandparents can rest between prayers while teenagers head back to the Haram.

Less Walking, More Rest: 5-Star Hotels

5-star puts you a short walk from prayer in both cities. With luxury group Umrah packages, the money buys less walking and more rest, so we suggest it for older parents. Ask for a lower floor; lifts queue after prayers.

Keeping Your Group Under One Roof

Wherever possible, the group stays in one hotel as a single block of rooms, on one floor on request, subject to availability. We build the rooming list with you.

Group Umrah Prices Per Person: How Room Sharing Changes Your Cost

Group Umrah packages from the UK start from £995 per person for 7 nights in a 3-star hotel, and the price then moves with the hotel, room type and season. For most groups, the two biggest factors are how many share each room and when you travel.

Four, Three or Two to a Room

Quad means four people share a room, triple three, and double or twin two. The more people in a room, the less each person pays. Men share with men and women with women, unless the room is for one family or a married couple.

What Makes the Price Go Up or Down

Dates matter most, with Ramadan and Christmas the dearest. Then come the hotel, the walking distance, direct or connecting flights, and the number of nights. On the same dates, a 7-night package costs less than 10 or 14 nights, though many pilgrims find a week passes very quickly.

How Group Savings Actually Work

Savings come from shared rooms, coaches and blocks of flight seats. Any group rate appears on your written quote; we don't advertise a headline group Umrah discount.

Flying as a Group: UK Airports, Airlines and Routes

Most groups land at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, around 90 minutes to two hours from Makkah by coach.

Direct Flights to Jeddah from Heathrow and Manchester

Direct flights to Jeddah leave from London Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham, so group Umrah from UK can fly direct on request. Bradford and Blackburn groups often use Manchester; Leicester groups often use Birmingham. Makkah-first pilgrims enter ihram before the plane crosses the miqat.

Connecting Flights and Flying into Madinah

From Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and other regional airports, you'll connect through a hub such as Doha, Dubai or Istanbul. Flights into Madinah's Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport usually connect too. Madinah-first groups enter ihram at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), where the coach stops on the way to Makkah.

Seats, Baggage and Zamzam for Groups

We aim to seat the whole group on one flight, together, where the airline allows. Baggage allowances vary by airline and fare, so check your ticket, including the airline's rule on carrying Zamzam home.

Group Umrah Dates for 2026 and 2027

The 2026/27 Umrah season (1448 AH) runs until spring 2027. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set 9 March 2027 as the last day for issuing Umrah visas, 23 March as the last day for Umrah pilgrims to enter, and 7 April as the last day to leave.

Peak Windows: Christmas, Ramadan and Easter

Group December Umrah packages fill first. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, subject to the moon sighting, overlapping February half-term for many UK schools; our Ramadan group packages start from £1,300 per person for 7 nights. Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027, and most Easter school holidays begin after the 23 March last entry date for Umrah visa holders. The Saudi ETA covers Umrah only outside the Hajj season, so whichever route you travel on, check Easter dates with us before paying for flights or hotels.

Quieter Months with Lower Prices

November, early December and January after New Year are calmer and cost less. Once the next season opens, summer in Makkah is very hot, so July and August groups plan their walking around the heat.

When the 2026/27 Umrah Season Closes for Hajj

After 7 April 2027, the last day Umrah pilgrims can stay in Saudi Arabia this season, international Umrah pauses for Hajj, expected in mid-May 2027. In recent seasons, Saudi authorities have also stopped visitors who aren't performing Hajj from flying into Jeddah, Madinah and Taif during the Hajj period. The next season's dates aren't announced yet; this year, Umrah visas reopened on 31 May 2026 and pilgrims could enter from 1 June.

Group Umrah for Women, Families, Older Pilgrims and First-Timers

• Women: aged 18 and over can perform Umrah without a mahram; ask about women-only groups.
• Children: up to two under 6 stay free in the hotel; from 6, the adult price applies.
• Older pilgrims: 5-star hotels cut the walk most; tawaf and sa'i have wheelchair routes.

Umrah Visa, Vaccination and Documents for Your Group

In our experience, group paperwork usually slips over one passport close to expiry or one missing vaccine certificate, so check both as soon as you book.

Umrah Visa Guidance Through Nusuk

British passport holders can use the Saudi ETA, launched on 1 July 2026, for Umrah outside Hajj; other UK residents use the dedicated Umrah visa, issued once flights and a licensed hotel are logged on Nusuk. Every pilgrim also books an Umrah permit on the Nusuk app, with our Nusuk support throughout.

MenACWY Vaccination and Health Checks

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health requires the MenACWY vaccine at least 10 days before arrival; keep the certificate with your passport.

Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, and travel insurance covering medical care is strongly advised.

Our flight-inclusive group Umrah packages are ATOL protected (ATOL 10416): if the company failed financially, you'd be refunded or brought home. Hotel-only bookings and non-financial problems aren't covered. Check any number with the Civil Aviation Authority.

Is Group Umrah Cheaper Than Going on Your Own?

Usually, yes, for the same hotels and dates, because rooms, coaches and flight seats are booked as a block. Going independently gives you more control over dates and hotels, and can cost less if your dates are flexible and you're happy to arrange transfers and Nusuk bookings yourself.

What's the Smallest Group You Can Book Privately?

We arrange private groups from 4 pilgrims up to 50, with group rates from 10. A private group chooses its own dates and hotels, and your quote confirms the group leader arrangements.

Can I Join a Group Umrah on My Own?

Yes. Solo pilgrims join a scheduled departure and usually share a quad room with pilgrims of the same gender, which keeps the price down. If you'd rather not share, ask us to price a double or twin room.

Can Women Join a Group Without a Mahram?

Yes. Saudi rules allow women aged 18 and over to travel for Umrah without a mahram, subject to visa and entry requirements. The scholarly position across the four schools of Islamic law still differs, so it remains a personal decision; speak to a scholar you trust if you want guidance. In shared rooms, women only ever share with other women.

Is There a Group Leader or Scholar with Us?

Every scheduled group has a group leader in Saudi Arabia, and private groups can ask for one. If a qualified scholar or religious guide travels with your departure, your quote will say so; ask us which dates include one.

How Early Should a Group Book for Ramadan or December?

For Ramadan and Christmas departures, booking around four to six months ahead normally gives groups more choice of flights, hotels and room types. Rooms near both Holy Mosques get scarcer as peak dates approach, especially for the last ten nights of Ramadan.

What Does a Group Leader Actually Help With During Umrah?

Your group leader handles the practical side in Saudi Arabia: hotel check-ins, coach timings between Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, meeting points around the Haram, Nusuk permit reminders and keeping everyone together. Ritual and religious guidance comes from a qualified scholar, who is included with your departure.

Can Our Mosque or Family Have a Private Coach and Group Leader?

You can ask for both when you request a quote. What we can arrange depends on your group size and dates, and your written quote confirms exactly which transfers and what group leader support are included.

Can Our Whole Group Stay on the Same Hotel Floor?

Often, if you book early. We request one block of rooms in a single hotel, on one floor when you ask for it, subject to the hotel's availability. Large groups and peak dates such as Ramadan and Christmas may be split across neighbouring floors, so send your numbers as early as you can.
