Like all other places and things present in Makkah, Maqam-e-Ibrahim also entails a very important place in the Muslims world.
History of Maqam-e-Ibrahim
This place is named after the point where Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) would stand at the time of the construction of Holy Kaabah. Because Allah liked his deed so much that He created his footprints on the stone so that it may become a symbol for Muslims. 

Religious significance

According to a saying of Hazrat Umer (R.A) narrated by Hazrat Anas (R.A), ‘I presented my opinion thrice which were later revealed by Allah in the Quran, one of them was to offer Salah at Maqam-e-Ibrahim after Tawaf and so it is mentioned in the Quran’. Maqam-e-Ibrahim was located near the wall of Kaabah. Hazrat Umar (R.A) relocated it to its present position. Pilgrims performing Tawaf, also pray Salah at this place. Sometimes people show their love and respect by kissing it and touching it.
