All prices are per person, based on four sharing, and subject to availability. Triple and twin rooms cost more per person, and single rooms carry a supplement. Departures in Ramadan, over Christmas and during Scottish school holidays are usually priced higher because flights and hotels fill up first. Your written quote shows the exact hotels, flights and total price before you pay anything beyond the deposit.

Budget 3-star packages from £615pp

Our 3-star Glasgow Umrah packages start from £615pp and suit travellers prioritising price over hotel facilities. Hotel location and walking distance vary by departure, so check the named Makkah and Madinah hotels, access route and any shuttle service on your written quote before booking.

Mid-range 4-star packages from £680pp

4-star packages start from £680pp and offer a balance of comfort, hotel standard and price. They can suit families and older travellers looking for easier hotel access without moving to a premium 5-star option. Always compare the actual hotel and location shown on your quotation.

Luxury 5-star packages from £745pp

5-star packages start from £745pp and focus on higher hotel standards, added comfort and convenient locations. Exact facilities, meal plans and walking distances vary by hotel, so compare the named properties on your quotation rather than choosing on star rating alone.

How Do You Fly to Jeddah from Glasgow?

Glasgow Airport has no scheduled non-stop flight to Jeddah, so every Umrah flight from Glasgow includes at least one connection. The usual routing is Emirates from Glasgow to Dubai, then a second Emirates flight from Dubai to Jeddah. Emirates flies Glasgow–Dubai daily and runs several Dubai–Jeddah flights a day, which leaves room to choose a sensible connection time.

Journey times, leg by leg

Leg

Approx. time

Glasgow to Dubai (Emirates)

approx. 7 hours 30 minutes

Connection in Dubai

usually approx. 2–5 hours, depending on the flights

Dubai to Jeddah

approx. 3 hours

Arrival at Jeddah and road transfer to your Makkah hotel

approx. 2–3 hours, including arrival formalities

Typical Glasgow to Jeddah journey times vary by date, airline schedule and connection length. Current itineraries may show journeys around this duration, so always check the flight details provided in your written quote. After landing, allow additional time for immigration, baggage collection and the road transfer to your Makkah hotel. Flight times vary by date, so use the itinerary shown on your written quote. Saudi Arabia is 3 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 2 hours ahead during British Summer Time.

Changing into ihram on the way

If you are going straight to Makkah, you need to be in ihram before the aircraft crosses the miqat, which happens during the Dubai–Jeddah flight. Jeddah is inside the miqat boundary, so waiting until you land is too late. Most pilgrims shower and change at Dubai before boarding the Jeddah flight, then make their intention on board. Crew on flights to Jeddah often announce when the aircraft approaches the miqat; if you are unsure, ask.

If your trip starts in Madinah, you don't need ihram on the flight. You put it on before leaving Madinah and make your intention at Dhul Hulayfah on the road to Makkah. For the rites themselves, see our guide on how to perform Umrah.

Glasgow, Edinburgh or an English airport?

Direct flights to Jeddah are available from London Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham. Reaching them from Glasgow adds a domestic flight or a long journey south, plus parking or an airport hotel, so compare the whole journey from your front door to your hotel.

Option

How it works

Worth considering if

Glasgow via Dubai

Emirates to Dubai, then on to Jeddah

You want to start from home with one connection

Glasgow via London Heathrow

Domestic flight to Heathrow, then a direct Jeddah flight such as Saudia

You would rather your long flight went straight to Jeddah

Edinburgh

Different airlines and connection points on some dates

Edinburgh is closer to home, or its fares are lower for your dates

Manchester or Birmingham

Direct Jeddah flights on selected schedules

You are happy to travel south first to avoid a connection

Glasgow has no scheduled flights to Istanbul or Doha, so routings through either hub add a second connection from Glasgow. If Manchester suits you better, see our Umrah packages from Manchester.

What's in the Price, and What Costs Extra?

Every Glasgow package covers the core of the trip: flights, hotels in both cities, transfers and Umrah visa support. Insurance, most meals and ziyarah are extra, so check both columns below before you compare prices with another agent.

Included in every Glasgow package

Not included (extras or arranged separately)

Return flights from Glasgow Airport (GLA) with one connection; baggage allowance shown on your quote

Travel insurance

Hotel in Makkah for your chosen nights

Meals unless listed on your quote; breakfast comes with selected premium packages, and half-board or full-board can be added

Hotel in Madinah for your chosen nights

Guided ziyarah, available as a paid add-on

Airport transfers in Saudi Arabia on arrival and departure

Extra baggage and paid seat selection

Makkah–Madinah transfer by coach

Single-room supplement

Umrah visa support and guidance on entry and permit requirements

Travel between home and Glasgow Airport

UK-based support before you travel

Personal spending

Your written quote lists the hotel names, flight times, baggage allowance and meal basis. Check it against this table before you pay the balance.

Adding guided ziyarah

Guided ziyarah is not part of any Makkah Tour package, but we can arrange it as a paid add-on on request. In Madinah, most pilgrims visit Masjid Quba, the first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and Mount Uhud. In Makkah, popular stops include Jabal al-Nour, where the Cave of Hira is found, and the plain of Arafat. Ask for the price when you request your quote.

Choosing Hotels Near Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi

A star rating describes the room and its facilities. For most pilgrims, the walk to the mosque matters more day to day. Hotel access can make a meaningful difference when you are walking to Masjid al-Haram several times a day, especially for families, older pilgrims and travellers visiting during busy periods. When you compare quotes, check:

  • the hotel name, and whether it is confirmed or listed as "or similar"
  • the approx. walking distance to Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and to Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah
  • whether the route is flat or uphill, which matters for older pilgrims and pushchairs
  • whether a shuttle runs at prayer times, if the hotel is further out
  • the room occupancy and whether breakfast is included

Paying more for a closer hotel makes most sense for older pilgrims, families with young children, anyone with limited mobility, and anyone travelling in Ramadan or the summer heat.

What Do You Need for Umrah from Glasgow in 2026?

British passport holders need a passport valid for at least six months after arrival in Saudi Arabia and valid entry permission that allows Umrah. Current UK guidance lists the Saudi ETA, tourist eVisa and electronic visa waiver as routes that may be used for Umrah outside the Hajj season. An Umrah permit can be booked through the official Nusuk platform. Pilgrims must also meet the Saudi health requirements that apply on their travel date.

Requirement

What it means for you

Passport

At least six months' validity from the date you arrive in Saudi Arabia

Visa or authorisation

Current UK guidance lists the Saudi ETA, tourist eVisa and electronic visa waiver as routes that may be used for Umrah outside the Hajj season. A dedicated Umrah visa may also apply depending on the booking route. We will confirm the appropriate entry permission for your trip.

Nusuk

Saudi Arabia's official digital platform and app for Hajj, Umrah and visit services. Umrah permits and Rawdah appointments can be requested through Nusuk, subject to the rules in force for your travel date.

Meningococcal vaccine

Health requirements for Umrah can include a meningococcal vaccination certificate. Check the latest Saudi Ministry of Health and UK government guidance for the travel date and allow enough time to meet any required validity period.

If you hold a non-British passport, the rules can differ, so tell us your nationality when you ask for a quote. Umrah entry arrangements can also change around the Hajj season, so late-spring dates need checking early. We provide Umrah visa support and pre-travel guidance, while visa, entry and permit decisions rest with the Saudi authorities. Our Umrah visa page explains the available routes, and before you travel covers the final checks.

When Should You Go? Scottish School Holidays, Ramadan and the Seasons

Glasgow's school holidays fall on different dates from England's, which affects when families can travel and when flights fill up. The 2026/27 dates below follow the Glasgow City Council calendar. Other Scottish councils vary slightly, so check your own school.

Period

2026/27 dates

What to expect

October week

12–16 October 2026

Temperatures in Makkah start to come down from the summer peak, and demand is steadier than at Christmas or in Ramadan.

Christmas and New Year

Late December 2026 to early January 2027

Cooler weather and one of the busiest periods for UK pilgrims, so book early.

February mid-term

15–16 February 2027

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, so a mid-term trip falls in Ramadan, with Ramadan pricing.

Ramadan 2027

Expected approx. 8 February to 9 March 2027, subject to moon sighting

The most in-demand weeks of the year, especially the last ten nights.

Spring holiday

Around Easter (Good Friday is 26 March 2027)

After Ramadan and before the Hajj-season pause on Umrah visas.

Summer

From late June 2027

Scottish schools break up about a month before most English schools. Makkah is very hot, so a closer hotel is worth more.

If your dates are flexible, the weeks outside Ramadan, Christmas and school holidays usually give the widest choice of hotels at lower prices.

Planning for Families, Groups, Women and Older Pilgrims

Different travellers have different needs, so compare room type, hotel access, flight connections and support before booking your Glasgow Umrah package.

  • Families with children: Quad rooms can reduce the price per person. Choose manageable connections and hotels with easier access to Masjid al-Haram.
  • Older pilgrims: Request airport or wheelchair assistance in advance and consider 4 or 5-star hotels to reduce daily walking.
  • Women travelling alone: Women aged 18+ can currently perform Umrah without a mahram. Private or shared-room options may be available.
  • Group bookings: Mosque, family and community groups should book early, especially for Ramadan and school holidays, to keep flights and rooms together. See our group Umrah packages for rooming and pricing.

Deposit, Payments and Who You Book With

Before paying, it helps to know three things: how much is due and when, what ATOL protection covers, and which company holds your booking. The details below apply to every Glasgow departure.

Paying for your package

A £49 per person deposit secures your booking. Your booking confirmation shows the balance and the date it is due. Instalment plans may be available, so ask for the payment schedule before you confirm.

ATOL protection

Flight-inclusive packages are protected under ATOL 10416. If the travel company fails financially, ATOL protection means you won't be stranded abroad, and you can claim a refund if you haven't yet travelled. You will receive an ATOL Certificate listing the protected parts of your booking. ATOL is not travel insurance, and it does not cover arrangements booked without a flight.

Who you are booking with

Makkah Tour is a trading brand of 7 Continents Travel Ltd (Companies House 05224578). 7 Continents Travel Ltd has traded since 2006 and is IATA accredited (IATA 91280442). Our team is UK-based, and you can ask for full booking and protection details before you pay.

How Booking Works

Booking a Glasgow Umrah package takes six steps, from your first enquiry to receiving your travel documents. Your place is held once you've approved a written quote and paid the £49 per person deposit.

  1. Send us your preferred dates, the number of travellers, your room preference and a rough budget.
  2. We reply with a written quote showing hotel names, flight times and routing, baggage allowance and the total price.
  3. Pay the £49 per person deposit to hold the booking.
  4. Send your passport details so we can provide the agreed Umrah visa support and guide you on any required entry or Nusuk permit steps.
  5. Pay the balance by the due date on your booking confirmation.
  6. Receive your e-tickets, hotel vouchers, transfer details and ATOL Certificate before you fly.

Before You Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an Umrah package from Glasgow cost in 2026?

Packages start from £615 per person for 7 nights in a 3-star hotel and go up to £874 per person for 14 nights in a 5-star hotel, based on four sharing. The final price depends on your dates, hotel, room occupancy and flight availability.

Can I customise an Umrah package from Glasgow?

Yes. You can discuss your preferred travel dates, stay duration, hotel category, room occupancy and flight requirements with the team. Available options and prices depend on the dates, hotels and services selected.

How long does it take to get from Glasgow to Makkah?

Allow more than 16 hours overall. Current Emirates schedules show around 16 hours 10 minutes from Glasgow to Jeddah via Dubai on selected dates, followed by additional time for immigration, baggage collection and the road transfer to your Makkah hotel. Your exact journey time depends on the flight schedule and connection.

Is my Glasgow Umrah package ATOL protected?

Flight-inclusive packages are protected under ATOL 10416 against the financial failure of the travel company, and you will receive an ATOL Certificate. ATOL is not travel insurance.

Can I fly from Edinburgh or Manchester instead of Glasgow?

Yes. We can quote from Edinburgh, Manchester and other UK airports. Manchester offers direct Jeddah flights on selected schedules, so compare the cost and time of getting there with a one-stop trip from Glasgow.

When is Umrah cheapest from Glasgow?

Prices can be lower outside Ramadan, Christmas and school holidays, but availability and fares vary by travel date. Summer can also offer different pricing, although Makkah is very hot, so hotel proximity is worth considering.
