Why choose Birmingham Umrah packages?

Flying from Birmingham Airport (BHX) means less travelling before the flight, which matters most to families, children and older pilgrims across the West Midlands. Our packages cover flights, hotels, transfers and Nusuk support, so you arrive rested and ready to perform Umrah.

  • Convenient departure from Birmingham Airport: Birmingham Airport runs seasonal direct flights to Jeddah and one-stop options through Gulf hubs year-round, so you are not travelling down to London first.
  • Suitable for families and elderly pilgrims: Shorter pre-flight travel helps with children, luggage and mobility needs, and we match flight timings and hotel locations to how your group travels.
  • Complete Umrah packages with everything arranged: One booking covers return flights, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, the coach between the two cities and Nusuk visa support.
  • Flexible options for different budgets: Pick 3, 4 or 5-star hotels over 7, 10 or 14 nights, from £675 up to £1,065 per person.
  • Local support before and during your journey: A UK-based team confirms your hotel's approx. distance to Masjid al-Haram in writing before you pay, and stays reachable while you travel.

Umrah packages from Birmingham Airport (BHX)

Saudia is the only airline flying non-stop from Birmingham Airport (BHX) to Jeddah (JED), in approx. 6 hours 15 minutes. The route is seasonal and suspended from 25 October 2026 to 26 March 2027, so for winter 2026/27, including December and Ramadan 2027, Birmingham pilgrims fly one-stop.

Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport is the usual arrival point for Umrah. From there Makkah is roughly a 90-minute drive, or a short ride on the Haramain High-Speed Railway.

Watch out for

Connection times, and a second luggage handling point

For a family travelling with a toddler and a grandparent, we will usually push you towards the direct flight even when it costs more, because a 3am change of aircraft in a Gulf hub undoes a lot of the rest you paid for. For two friends travelling in October with flexible dates, a one-stop route often frees up two or three hundred pounds that is better spent on a hotel closer to the Haram.

Birmingham or London Airport for Umrah: Which Is Better?

Many Birmingham pilgrims compare local departures with travelling to London airports. Both options can work depending on your dates, budget and flight availability, but flying from Birmingham offers several advantages.

Flying From Birmingham (BHX)

Flying From London Airports

Easier access for West Midlands travellers

More airline and flight choices

Less travel before your flight

Useful for specific flight schedules

Convenient for families and elderly pilgrims

More options during peak dates

Lower pre-flight travelling time

May require longer airport transfers

Getting to Birmingham Airport

Part of the appeal of departing from BHX is how little travelling you do before the travelling starts. Birmingham International station sits next to the terminal and is linked to it by the Air-Rail Link people mover, which puts the airport within a straightforward journey for pilgrims in Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton and across the West Midlands. If you are driving, factor airport parking into your budget, particularly for a 14-night trip.

Reaching Madinah

There is no direct flight from Birmingham to Madinah. If your itinerary starts in Madinah, you will either connect through a Gulf hub or fly into Jeddah and travel north on the Haramain High-Speed Railway, which links Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. We arrange the inter-city leg either way, and every package includes return flights.

Budget and 3-star Umrah packages Birmingham

Our cheapest Umrah packages from Birmingham start at £675 per person for seven nights. You get a clean, functional hotel in each city, usually approx. 1 km or more from Masjid al-Haram with a shuttle service, shared airport transfers and group transport. This suits solo travellers, students, and families who would rather put the money into a longer trip than a shorter one closer in. Be realistic about the walk: at approx. 1.2 km each way, five prayers a day is a lot of walking in August heat, and many pilgrims use the shuttle for at least two of them.

4-star Umrah packages Birmingham

The middle tier is where most Birmingham families land, and for good reason. You are typically looking at hotels approx. 500 m to 1 km from the Haram, better rooms, a proper breakfast, and enough of a step up in comfort to matter on a 10 or 14-night trip. From £735 per person for seven nights, this is the option we recommend most often to first-time pilgrims who want the trip to feel unhurried without stretching the budget.

5-star luxury Umrah packages Birmingham

From £855 per person, the premium tier buys you proximity above all else. Hotels approx. 0 to 500 m from Masjid al-Haram let you return to your room between prayers instead of committing to the whole day out, which makes a real difference for older pilgrims and for anyone travelling with small children. Private transfers, a larger room and a fuller board arrangement come with it. This is the right choice if walking distance is your main concern.

Ramadan Umrah packages Birmingham

Umrah in Ramadan carries special reward, and the demand reflects that. Prices rise sharply, hotels near the Haram fill first, and the last ten nights are the hardest window in the calendar to book well. If Ramadan is your intention, plan six months to a year ahead rather than six weeks. We will be straight with you about what your budget can realistically secure at that time of year, which sometimes means a slightly further hotel than you would take in a quieter month.

How Far Are Makkah and Madinah Hotels from the Haram?

In Makkah, hotel distance is measured from Masjid al-Haram; in Madinah, from Masjid an-Nabawi, the Prophet's Mosque. Our packages range from hotels approx. 0 to 500 m from the Haram up to approx. 1.5 km with a shuttle, and we confirm your specific hotel's approx. distance in writing before you pay. Distance is the single biggest lever on both your budget and your daily routine.

Approx. distance from Masjid al-Haram

What it means day to day

Usually found at

Approx. 0 to 500 m

You can walk back to your room between prayers and reach the mataf in a few minutes. Least walking, highest price.

4 and 5-star

Approx. 500 m to 1 km

A comfortable walk for most people, or a short shuttle ride. The sensible middle ground for a lot of pilgrims.

3 and 4-star

Approx. 1 km and beyond

Shuttle-served and noticeably cheaper. Fine for many, though it means more travel time during busy periods.

3-star and budget

For elderly pilgrims and anyone with mobility difficulties, we would generally advise paying for proximity over paying for room quality. A beautiful room approx. 1.5 km out is worse than a plain room approx. 400 m in when you are making that journey five times a day. Families with young children usually reach the same conclusion by day three.

Madinah tends to be easier. Most quality hotels sit within a short walk of Masjid an-Nabawi, so the distance question is less fraught there than it is in Makkah. Whichever tier you choose, all accommodation is booked through the official Nusuk platform, as Saudi regulations require.

How much do Umrah packages from Birmingham cost?

Umrah from Birmingham typically starts from around £675 per person for a 3-star seven-night package. A mid-range 4-star trip generally sits between £735 and £895 per person depending on duration, and 5-star packages start from around £855 and run to about £1,065 for fourteen nights. Those are starting prices for shared rooms in ordinary travel months.

Two packages with the same star rating can differ by several hundred pounds, which confuses a lot of first-time pilgrims. The difference comes down to a handful of things.

Budget separately for a few things your package price does not cover: travel insurance, meals where they are not included, Ihram clothing, personal spending, Zamzam and gifts to bring home, and airport parking if you are driving to BHX. When we quote you, we set out clearly what is included and what is not, so the figure you agree to is the figure you pay.

Spreading the cost: deposit and instalments

You do not have to pay for your Umrah in one go. A deposit from just £49 per person secures your booking, and you then pay the balance in instalments in the run-up to departure rather than all at once. The schedule depends on how far ahead you book, so the earlier you start, the more you can spread it. We set out your deposit, your instalment dates and your final balance in writing when you book, with no hidden charges. For many Birmingham families, booking early and paying in stages is the most manageable way to plan an Umrah from Birmingham.

What You Need Before You Fly: Umrah Visa, Saudi ETA and Vaccinations

A certain amount of admin stands between you and your journey. None of it is difficult, but all of it has a deadline, and missing one is the most common way a trip goes wrong. This is what you need.

  • Umrah visa via Nusuk: The Saudi Umrah visa is issued through the official Nusuk platform, which is also used to book your accommodation. We provide Nusuk support and guidance throughout so that nothing is missed or submitted late.
  • Saudi ETA: Since 1 July 2026, the Saudi Electronic Travel Authorisation has replaced the Electronic Visa Waiver for eligible travellers. We will confirm which entry route applies to your trip and your passport.
  • MenACWY vaccination: This is mandatory for Umrah, and you need it at least 10 days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia. Your GP surgery or a travel clinic can administer it. Book it early, because the 10-day rule catches people out.
  • Passport validity: Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your date of travel.
  • Mahram: women aged 18 and over may perform Umrah without a mahram under current Saudi policy.
  • Travel insurance: Strongly recommended for every pilgrim, and worth arranging as soon as you have paid a deposit rather than the week before you fly.

To be clear about what we do and do not do: we provide Nusuk support and guidance, and we book your accommodation through the platform as Saudi regulations require. Any agency telling you it can guarantee or fast-track a Saudi visa is describing something outside its control.

If any of this is unfamiliar, that is what our team is for. Ask, and we will talk you through it in plain terms.

Why Birmingham Muslims trust Makkah Tour

Choosing an Umrah travel agency in Birmingham is the biggest decision you will make in this whole process, and it is the one where the least reliable information is available. Umrah fraud is a real worry in our communities, and we would rather earn your trust with things you can verify than with things you cannot. These are the things you can check.

  • Financial protection: our flight-inclusive packages are protected under ATOL 10416, which covers you against our financial failure on those bookings. You will be issued an ATOL Certificate when you pay. Ask for it, and check that everything you booked is listed on it.
  • Accreditation: Makkah Tour is IATA accredited (91280442) and is part of 7 Continents Travel Ltd, Companies House 05224578, which has arranged travel for UK pilgrims since 2006.
  • Working within Saudi regulations: all visas and accommodation go through the official Nusuk platform, in line with Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah requirements, with licensed partners on the ground.
  • Transparent pricing: the price you are quoted is the price you pay, with inclusions and exclusions written down before you commit.
  • A UK team you can reach: phone and WhatsApp support from the UK before you go and while you are away, not an overseas call centre.

We know what Birmingham pilgrims tend to worry about, because we get asked the same things every week. Whether the hotel is really as close as the listing suggests. Whether a group of eighteen from the same masjid can definitely sit together. Whether an eighty-year-old father will manage the walk. Whether the deposit is safe. Those are all reasonable questions, and we would rather you asked them before you book than afterwards.

How to book your Birmingham Umrah package

The process is straightforward and there is no obligation at any point before you pay a deposit.

  • Contact us: Call 0203-195-8700, message us on WhatsApp, or send the enquiry form with your rough dates, budget and who is travelling.
  • Discuss your requirements: We will talk through flights, hotel distance, duration and room arrangements, and tell you plainly what your budget will secure for those dates.
  • Select your package: We send tailored options in writing, with hotel names, approx. distances and a clear list of what is and is not included.
  • Confirm your booking: A deposit of just £49 per person secures your place, and we set out the balance and its due date clearly. Ask us about the payment schedule we can offer for your dates.
  • Receive your documents and travel: We tell you exactly what we need for your Nusuk visa support, then send your itinerary and pre-travel guidance, and stay reachable right through to your return.

Umrah from Birmingham: your questions answered

Can I fly direct from Birmingham to Jeddah for Umrah?
Yes, when the seasonal route is running. Saudia flies non-stop from Birmingham (BHX) to Jeddah (JED) in approx. 6 hours 15 minutes. The route pauses from 25 October 2026 to 26 March 2027, so winter dates, including December and Ramadan 2027, fly one-stop via Istanbul, Dubai or Doha.

How much does Umrah cost from Birmingham?
Umrah from Birmingham costs from £675 per person for a 3-star seven-night package, up to around £1,065 for 5-star over fourteen nights. A 4-star trip typically runs £735 to £895. Price depends on your dates, hotel distance from the Haram, trip length and how many share a room.

How do I choose a reliable Umrah travel agency in Birmingham?
Check three things: ATOL protection on flight-inclusive packages, IATA accreditation, and a registered UK company number. A reliable agency gives you hotel names and approx. distances to the Haram in writing before you pay, uses the official Nusuk platform, and issues your ATOL Certificate at the time of payment.

Is there a direct flight from Birmingham to Madinah?
No. There is no direct flight from Birmingham to Madinah. Pilgrims fly into Jeddah and travel on to Madinah by road. Makkah Tour packages include your return flights and the coach transfer between Makkah and Madinah, so the inter-city leg is already arranged for you.

Do I need a mahram to perform Umrah?
No. Women aged 18 and over may perform Umrah without a mahram under current Saudi policy. Makkah Tour arranges sister-friendly accommodation and group transfers for women travelling alone or with friends from Birmingham.

What visa and vaccinations do I need for Umrah from Birmingham?
You need a Saudi Umrah visa applied for through the official Nusuk platform, and the MenACWY vaccination at least 10 days before arrival. Since 1 July 2026, the Saudi ETA has replaced the Electronic Visa Waiver for eligible travellers. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.

How far will my hotel be from the Haram?
It depends on your package tier. In Makkah, hotels approx. 0 to 500 m from Masjid al-Haram cost the most and save the most walking; approx. 500 m to 1 km is a comfortable walk for most; approx. 1 km or beyond is shuttle-served and cheaper. Madinah distances are measured from Masjid an-Nabawi.

How long should I go for: 7, 10 or 14 nights?
Seven nights, usually four in Makkah and three in Madinah, is enough to perform Umrah without rushing. Ten nights gives a calmer pace and time to perform Umrah more than once. Fourteen nights suits elderly pilgrims and families, and is the popular choice in Ramadan.

Can I pay for my Umrah from Birmingham in instalments?
Yes. Secure your booking with a deposit from £49 per person and pay the balance in instalments before you travel. The schedule depends on how far ahead you book, so booking early spreads the cost further. Your deposit, instalment dates and final balance are confirmed in writing.

Is my Birmingham Umrah booking financially protected?

Yes. Makkah Tour's flight-inclusive packages are protected under ATOL 10416, which covers you against our financial failure on those bookings, and you are issued an ATOL Certificate when you pay.
